The Club are very excited to present this fabulous USA band with some of the finest musicians on the New York jazz scene, and only in the UK for two dates as part of an extensive 2024 European tour. Vincent Herring, one of the finest alto saxophonists in the history of jazz, brings an all star band featuring the amazing talent of the young female saxophonist, Erena Terakubo. Vincent Herring and drummer Joris Dudli look back on a long and fruitful association, playing and touring together over many years. Along with shooting star Erena Terakubo and top American players Gary Fisher on piano and Essiet Essiet on bass, “Soul Chemistry” produces hard swinging and always extremely soulful jazz music of today.

Vincent Herring is a saxophone virtuoso with a uniquely intense and soulful musical voice. He first toured Europe and the USA with Lionel Hampton’s big band in the early 1980’s and then  began working with Nat Adderley for nine years. Along the way he worked and/or recorded with Cedar Walton, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Hayes, Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers and Horace Silver Quintet amongst many other great names in the history of jazz. Erena Terakubo is a multi-talented saxophonist, flautist, clarinetist and composer from Sapporo, Japan and then studied at Berklee College and Manhattan School of Music. She has already released six albums and is very highly rated on the New York scene. Pianist Gary Fisher has lived in New York for nearly three decades and has performed over the years with Chet Baker, Randy Brecker and Richie Cole amongst countless others. Double bassist Essiet Essiet worked with Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson and was Art Blakey’s last bassist, playing for 2 years in the Jazz Messengers. Acclaimed drummer Joris Dudli was in Art Farmer’s Quintet from 1979-85 and subsequently after relocating to New York in 1986 has played with jazz greats such as Johnny Griffin, Joe Henderson, Mullgrew Miller plus many of today’s leading musicians.

There are very few opportunities to see and hear such a fabulous band outside London and with limited capacity in the Studio Theatre, you are advised to purchase your tickets early.
