This event is run in conjunction with the Mic Skills & Performance workshop. Sign up to the pre-show workshop for a chance to develop your performance skills, learn some tips to help with pre-show nerves, and gain confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
Brought to you by Syntax Poetry Collective. Headlined by two formidable Peterborough Poet Laureate alumni: Peterborough’s first ever rap artist poet laureate Mixy, and the city’s current laureate Lauren Kendrick.
Headliner 1: Mixy
Returned to the UK at the end of 2022 after spending 7 years in China working, travelling, learning the language, and getting locked down.
Ex battle rapper, ex poet laureate of the city, ex british ex pat, currently creating new material. First spoken word performance in the UK since before the pandemic.
Headliner 2: Lauren Kendrick
Lauren Kendrick is the current Poet Laureate of Peterborough, a freelance artist and food activist in Peterborough. She’s a cross-disciplinary artist, and passionate about food, cycles, words and stories: the ones we keep inside, tell others, tell ourselves, stories of communities and how we share these. She is interested in celebrating the natural and also exploring how we as humans could benefit from connecting with natures cycles and if something is perceived as broken how this can be repurposed or celebrated rather than discarded. She creates work using natural materials, food and personal experiences.
The Welcome Week(ender) is a programme of performances, workshops and activities presented by Landmark Theatres.
