Poignant drama ‘Remember Me’ returns for 2025! 🧠🎨

We’re really looking forward to the 2025 return of Remember Me! Take a read of the below to find out how the wonderful play came to be and why it’s important in spreading awareness of dementia.

Exploring the Power of Connection in Remember Me

Theatre has the unique ability to reflect life’s most profound and challenging experiences and Remember Me by Lekha Desai Morrison is a shining example of this power. Written from the playwright’s personal experiences and thorough research, this poignant drama about dementia has captivated audiences since its debut in May 2024.

Commissioned by Landmark Theatres, Remember Me first premiered to an almost sold-out audience at the Key Theatre in Peterborough, despite minimal publicity. Supported by the Dementia Resource Centre in Peterborough, the play quickly gained momentum, leading to sold-out performances at the Burton Taylor Studio in Oxford later that summer. Now, due to popular demand, Remember Me returns to the stage for performances at both the Key Theatre in March 2025 and the Old Fire Station in Oxford.

A Story Rooted in Reality

At the heart of Remember Me is a family’s journey through the trials of dementia. The play follows Sally and her daughter Keira as they come to terms with the changes in their beloved Jack, whose fading interest in painting signals deeper struggles. Through warmth, humour, and raw honesty, the narrative delves into how dementia not only affects the individual but also profoundly impacts their loved ones.

Desai Morrison’s script transforms a deeply personal and often painful topic into a universal story that resonates with anyone who has experienced the heartbreak of watching someone they love to fade away. Critics have praised the play for its artistry and emotional depth. Jon Lewis of Newbury Today describes it as “a work of art rather than an instruction manual,” while Sophie Francis of Daily Info highlights the “brilliant acting” and “huge emotional impact.”

Why See Remember Me

Remember Me is more than a play; it’s an opportunity for connection. Audiences are invited into Sally and Keira’s world, where they’ll find solace in knowing they are not alone. Through its compassionate storytelling, the play serves as a reminder that support is available, whether from organisations like the Dementia Resource Centre or through shared understanding with others who have faced similar challenges.

A Community Effort

The play’s journey from Peterborough to Oxford and back again is a testament to its impact. The Dementia Resource Centre’s advocacy for its continuation highlights the importance of such narratives in raising awareness and fostering dialogue. By bringing this play to life, Desai Morrison aims not only to entertain but also to shed light on one of the fastest-growing health challenges of our time.

What Audiences Are Saying

Audience members have been moved by the play’s authenticity and emotional resonance. One described it as “an incredibly moving and explicitly real depiction of dementia,” while another simply called it “a lovely play about a difficult subject.”

Don’t Miss Out

With sold-out performances in its past, Remember Me continues to leave an indelible mark on audiences. Don’t miss your chance to experience this heart-wrenching yet hopeful family drama when it returns to the Key Theatre on 6th and 7th March 2025. Tickets start at just £16, and early booking is strongly recommended to secure your seat for this unforgettable production.

Let Remember Me remind us of all the importance of compassion, connection, and hope in the face of life’s challenges.
