‘Behind Closed Curtains is a love story born in the theatre, focusing on those hidden moments lost between intimate whispers and giggles backstage, with the support of Key Seeds and landmark theatres, I hope to explore the ways this work can be elevated to not only represent my own experiences but provide entertainment and understanding to audiences that have not experienced the magic of a showtime romance.’

Bio:

James Venters is a writer, director, and producer with an interest in Minimalist productions, driven by naturalistic performances often involving love. James studied at the University of Chichester and has previously worked with Kindred Drama and Mask Theatre, with whom he had his directorial debut at the CUBED festival for Ramona Tells Jim (2020).

In October 2020 James co-founded Kitchen Sink Productions and since then has written, directed and produced many Projects with the company including live showcases, audio dramas and charity events.

The Welcome Week(ender) is a programme of performances, workshops and activities presented by Landmark Theatres. The Welcome Week(ender) is designed to invite new audiences, artists and communities into the Key Theatre and offer free shows, workshops and taster session opportunities. Find out more here.
