Part of Landmark Theatres Key Seeds Programme:

Fourteen in ‘14 gives a voice to our younger selves that we never previously allowed them to have. When you’re fourteen everything matters, so nothing matters. Nearly 10 years later, has anything changed?

This question is the core of Fourteen in ‘14 and is one that we want to pose in a series of public workshops we hope to run. With the guidance of Key Seeds, our aim is to invite people from Peterborough, aged 20-30, to discuss media from the early-to-mid 2010’s that moulded them. Sticks are excited about the opportunity to work alongside the Key as part of their 2024 Key Seeds Programme, developing Fourteen in ‘14 into a piece that has been shaped by real lived experiences from the community of Peterborough to give a sense of life and connection.

Bio:

Sticks Theatre is a recently founded theatre company made up of University of Kent Drama and Theatre graduates, Sarah Saxby and Isabella Westveer de Mul. During our studies, we explored working with community groups, creating accessible work, devising, and co-creation.

Both coming from rural areas in East Anglia, we share an appreciation for working with local artists, the community, and in storytelling that represents modern-day people from these landscapes.

As a young theatre company, Sticks Theatre have worked together on multiple projects outside of the company. Most recently, we have collaborated together as part of movement and dance theatre piece, How Shall We Begin Again?, conceptualised by Jo Fong (Key Theatre, Peterborough). We are also continuing to develop our original show Acne Carol (which has been taken to both A Pleasance Scratch in March and Cambridge Junction’s Short Scratchings in October 2023).  This is alongside the development of multiple other projects, including Fourteen in ‘14, as part of our Key Seeds partnership.
