Key Nights

Sat 31 Aug

A fantastic evening of scratch performances featuring a selection of new and developing work in the Key Theatre Studio Space.

Perfect for theatre lovers, local creatives and those who want to take part in the development process of creating a show right here in Peterborough.

Join us to see performances from: Alan Seiglow, Jenna Unwin, Jack Palmer, and Jack Wilkin.

Alan Seiglow:

Alan is developing his first show ‘The Resurrection of Joy’ which (fingers and toes crossed) will premiere in 2025. It’s the story of a working-class son and his mum. An exploration of memory, surviving hardships and tragedy, it’s also a celebration of family do’s, of bingo at Butlins, dancing with your aunties and the power of finding joy in life again.

Alan is a new artist creating autobiographical theatre in which he explores the magic in the mundane, to find humanity and love in the darkest of places.

Jenna Unwin:

Jenna is a dyspraxic performance artist from rural Cambridgeshire, based in Peterborough. She has trained and worked as a dancer for almost 10 years, and is now discovering her own voice/practice as an artist. Jenna interviews real people to collect true stories and creates shows that capture the real human experience. Most recently, she has been experimenting with multiple art forms including storytelling, cabaret and dance in an attempt to answer the question; “What’s the best way to tell this story?”. ‘Embarrassed/Humiliated/Mortified’ is a one-woman exploration of embarrassing stories from real people, told through movement and voice.

Jack Palmer:

Jack Palmer is an Essex-born actor and writer, currently based in the Fenland district of Cambridgeshire. After graduating with a 2:1 in Drama & Film in July 2023, Jack joined the Key Theatre’s Early Career Artist Training Programme in February 2024 to pursue his interests in acting and writing. In May 2024, Jack performed a one-man version of The People In Our Lives as part of an Open Mic event at the Key Theatre.

The People In Our Lives tells the story of Jason & Rose who navigate their new life as landlord and landlady of The Golden Ball whilst they deal with their parents’ feuds and the love that seemingly never died between them.

Jack Wilkin:

It’s been 40 years since radio disc jockey Steve Dahl detonated a crate full of disco records at the 1979 Disco Demolition, a public demonstration that took place during a baseball game in Chicago. Join Jack as they put the records back together of a genre that rewrote the politics of the soundfloor and became a soundtrack for liberation that is played to this day.

Jack Wilkin is an artist, facilitator and youth worker who’s been finding ways to mash these elements together. They’ve been exploring how play and joy can be a tool for resistance, and that an experience with a couple of people is as powerful as an experience with a whole crowd. Their performance work explores issues both within and facing LGBTQIA+ communities, using a mixture of autobiographical experiences, breaking the 4th wall, comedy, and a sprinkling of sequins.
