Refugee Week Peterborough: A Night of Monologues, Music & Poetry
Thu 20 Jun62 Gladstone Street hosts White Kite Collective for a night of monologues, music, and poetry. This event is for Palestine, to show solidarity for the 76 years of oppression.
This is a fundraising event. All proceeds go to H.E.L.P, the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund, and White Kite Collective.
Join us in Peterborough for an evening of monologues, music, and poetry as we celebrate Refugee Week 2024. This year’s theme, “Our Home,” invites us to reflect on the meaning of home — from the places we share meals to our collective home, planet earth.
This event is a tribute to all those who have been displaced, highlighting the strength and resilience of refugee communities from around the world. In particular, we stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are enduring severe hardships and violence. We remember and honour all innocent lives lost and futures stolen over the past 76 years.
“We are a grassroots group of cultural workers united in support of the Palestinian people as they confront genocide.” – White Kite Collective
Following sold out events at Tara Theatre, Arcola Theatre, Rich Mix and Bush Theatre, White Kite Collective have curated this fundraiser for collective healing and catharsis, intended to galvanise attendees from awareness to action. If you are unable to attend, you can still support via a donation to White Kite Collective’s fundraisers: https://donorbox.org/white-kite-collective
Featuring: monologues from the White Kite Collective, poetry from lisa luxx, Zain Awan, Charley Genever, Oloyede Michael Taiwo and Nazya Sama, and music from Etaf.
We want to ensure this event is accessible and inclusive. If you would like to attend but are not in a position to buy a ticket, please don’t hesitate to email us: standwithpals@gmail.com
We would be so grateful if you’re able to donate anything you can to this fundraiser, even if you can’t be with us in person. You can also choose to donate to White Kite Collective – a grassroots group of cultural workers united in support of the Palestinian people – so that we can continue this work; we are a grassroots collective with very little funding, and we very much appreciate any donations.
