A week of takeovers, performances and workshops made with, for and by the people of Peterborough. 

Our school partners will be performing alongside supported artist and there’s lots more opportunities to get involved.

All Week 

Heels Dance Intensive With Summer (workshops) 

What? A week of intensive high heels dance classes. An opportunity for those who want to push their confidence to the next level and work towards a showcase performance in front of friends and family.

Monday 

Switch Festival with Lamphouse Theatre Company (show) 

What? Four short shows from up and coming writers, comedians, performers and directors all living and working in Peterborough.

Eid Stories: Celebrate Eid al-Fitr With Khayaal Theatre (show) 

What? A trio of storytelling theatre artists will regale family audiences with a riveting collection of wise, wondrous and witty tales from Muslim cultures. This performance opens with a special short performance made by young people from Peterborough.

Lithuanian Takeover Event (films, music and performances) 

What? A day of films, talks, performances and presentations celebrating Lithuanian culture and the Lithuanian community here in Peterborough.

Wednesday 

Fourteen in ’14 by Sticks Theatre (show) 

What? Fourteen in ‘14 is an original, one woman show written by Sarah Saxby and Isabella Westveer De Mul. It will explore the current relapse in culture, by delving into what it was truly like to be at the centre of all that was 2014.

Jumped Up Theatre: Taking Up Space: Rediscovering Joy in Movement (workshop) 

What? Rediscover joy in movement with neurodivergent theatre-maker Gavin Maxwell. Creative workshop to unleash authenticity and take up space

Behing Closed Curtains by Kitchen Sink Theatre (show) 

What? A sharp two hander that explores workplace relationships, celebrity and sacrifice by emerging theatre company Kitchen Sink.

Jumped Up Theatre & Shiamak Bollywood Dance: Creating a Scene from the Iconic Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (workshop) 

What?  Expert dance teacher, Neharika, will teach you the choreography and dance moves from the iconic Bollywood film “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” and you will perform onstage while our professional film crew records your routine. Don’t miss this chance to experience being part of a Bollywood music video – where you are the star.

Remember me by Lekha Morrison (show) 

What?  A new play that draw on the writer’s personal experience and extensive research into Dementia, one of the fastest growing diseases worldwide which is predicted to affect one in every two people worldwide.

SYNTAX: Mic Skills & Performance Workshop 

What?  An Open Mic workshop for beginers. 

Our experienced instructors will guide you through the basics of performance, from overcoming stage jitters to mastering microphone technique. You’ll have the opportunity to practice your work in a safe and encouraging environment, receiving valuable feedback and tips along the way.

SYNTAX: Open Mic & Laureates Night 

What?  A raucous, fun-filled evening of local talent. Sign up to our open mic for poets, writers, and spoken word artists, and share your words with a supportive audience and headline features.
