Following the discovery of the presence of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in the Key Theatre Auditorium and, in line with recent government health and safety guidance around this material, this space has been temporarily closed with immediate effect.
Our landlords Peterborough City Council are urgently surveying and identifying remedial works required however at this stage we don’t know the precise scope that this work will entail. Whilst this is established, we have taken the decision to remain closed until 15th October 2023. Please see our full statement here.
The closure is only affecting programming in the main auditorium and all other spaces including the studio theatre, box office, offices, spires room, swan room and Chalkboard Tea Room & Bistro are unaffected and safe to occupy.
We are working hard to reschedule events or move them into another space where possible, and will continue to keep customers regularly updated.
Please see below a list of shows currently affected, and the current update:
This list will be updated as and when we have further details:

Our Box Office team will be reaching out to you within the next few days to assist you with moving, exchanging, or refunding your tickets. They will contact you via email or telephone. As you can imagine our team will be exceptionally busy during this time so we please ask you to wait to be contacted.
I have tickets to a show not on this list, am I affected?
Currently, only shows in the main auditorium at the Key Theatre are affected. Shows in the Studio Theatre will go ahead as planned. We have confirmation that this space is safe to occupy.
Shows in the main house that were booked between Friday 14th September to Sunday 15th October, are affected.
How long will you be closed for?
At the moment we are closed up to and including 15th October. We will release any further information regarding re opening as soon as possible. If we need to contact customers about future shows beyond 15th October, we will do so directly but are not doing so at this time.
I haven’t received an email about my tickets.
Emails will be sent to the email address on the account used to make the booking. Please make sure you check your spam and junk mail. The email will come from hello@newandkeytheatres.co.uk
We are contacting ticket holders with information about their show as we confirm updated dates or cancellations. This may not necessarily happen in the order that the shows were due to be on our stages. Please be assured that we are endeavouring to contact all ticket holders as soon as we can once we have further information.
I am due to attend a class/activity not on this list, will it go ahead?
Kindred Youth Theatre classes. Rose’s Make Believe, Volunteer event and Heels Dance Class will all go ahead as planned as these events take place in studio spaces unaffected by the main auditorium closure.
