Following the discovery of the presence of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) in the Key Theatre Auditorium and, in line with recent government health and safety guidance around this material, this space has been temporarily closed with immediate effect.

For many in the arts community, climate action isn’t just a topic for discussion — it’s an area that requires real solutions and tangible efforts. As theatre professionals, we have an important role to play, both in storytelling and practice, in addressing the climate crisis. This is where theatre can make a difference.

As part of our Key Seeds artist development programme, we’re honoured to introduce Lydia Idakula, who brings the inspiring and rarely told story of Queen Idia to the stage in a bold new musical. Lydia’s work draws on her own Nigerian heritage, fusing music, poetry, dance, and storytelling to breathe life into the legendary Queen Mother of Benin.
